Obama.. Guilty Pleasure: Gossip Girl
It is not easy being president- more so if it is the USA. Being the sole superpower, the amount of pressure that American presidents have on their shoulders would mean a lot of Vicodin. But presidents do relax in their undies and put their feet up to watch a little TV once in a while. However, the question to ask is- what do presidents watch? Put yourself in a president’s shoes. What shows would interest you? 24? West Wing? Probably some comedy like SNL or Family Guy if the president has a decent sense of humor like Obama does. Yet, there is one show that really gets President Obama on edge. No it is not the comedy of South Park. No it is not the action of Heroes or Lost, and no it’s not How I Met Your Mother- it’s worse; much, much worse. It’s Gossip Girl.  How old is the President? Forget the fact that he leads the superpower of the world, but exactly how old is the guy? He’s 49 years old. That’s almost half a century. Now, what is a 49 year old male doing with a show that is aimed at hormonally imbalanced teens? Not sure, but the President sure does love the show- a lot. Like seriously- like a super lot- ya feel? The president is so in love with the show that it is reported that he actually put a very important meeting on hold to go to his room and catch the latest episode- leaving the Vice to do all the work. No kidding- I’m super serious. Mr Obama even used the Secret Service to arrange a meeting with some of the cast members. Wow, talk about the versatility of his personal bodyguards/concierge service. I am still baffled at what the President sees in the show. Is it the ever so mysterious Serena? Is it the fact that all the people in the story happen to have perfectly shaped faces? Is it the fact that it is overly gossipy? Could it be that Michelle just happens to be a fan of the show and enslaves her husband into bearing through every episode? But still, I would expect more from a woman- a matured woman into watching something so surreal and shallow. A man- surreal and shallow- nothing new there; but a woman? Hmmm… But whatever the reason- believe it or not- President Obama is a fan of the show, and I doubt that his kids are fans as well. His eldest cannot be more than 12-well. But oh well, a President’s gotta do what a President’s gotta do and maybe Gossip Girl just might be President Obama’s visual Vicodin. Who needs drugs to relieve stress- just watch an episode of Gossip Girl. Oh, and here’s a smiley :) just to make this all a very Gossipy and Blogging-like experience .
